EAU CLAIRE — An Eau Claire man who pleaded guilty to his tenth drunken-driving offense has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Assistant district attorney Gary Schuster calls 53-year-old Bradley Armstrong a “walking bomb ready to go off.” He says a motor vehicle in Armstrong's hands is a lethal weapon.

Public defender Susan Falch said Armstrong had no history of other legal problems. She says he's never been involved in an accident and nobody has gotten hurt, and he takes full responsibility for his actions.

The prosecution and defense jointly recommended the sentence Friday. Schuster says he would have sought a longer sentence but he noted that Armstrong has been sentenced to three years in a Barron County prison on a similar charge.
